Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how New Errand Company and Store, trading as “New Errand and Logistics” (“New Errand,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use our website, app, and delivery/errand services in Ibadan, whether as a Client or a Rider. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: full name, phone number, email address, and password (stored as an irreversible hash, never in plain text).

Identity verification data: your National Identification Number (NIN). For Riders, we also collect a profile photo, next-of-kin name and phone number, motorcycle details (plate number, make/model, colour), and supporting documents (ID photo, bike registration document, rider’s permit).

Order information: pickup and drop-off addresses, item or errand descriptions, delivery notes, and the in-app chat messages exchanged between a Client and Rider (or our support team) for a given Order.

Payment & wallet information: your Wallet balance and transaction history. We do not collect or store your card or bank login details ourselves — card payments and bank transfers for Wallet top-ups are processed directly by Paystack, our licensed payment partner. For Riders, we store your bank account name, number, and bank name so we can pay out your earnings.

Device & usage data: standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and session cookies used to keep you signed in securely. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and secure your account, and verify your identity before you place an Order or fund your Wallet.
  • To match Orders with available Riders, coordinate pickup and delivery, and share your contact and address details with the Rider assigned to your Order.
  • To process Wallet top-ups and payouts through Paystack, and to accurately maintain your Wallet balance and transaction history.
  • To send transactional notifications about your Order, account, and Wallet by email and, where you opt in, WhatsApp.
  • To investigate complaints, disputes, suspected fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service.
  • To comply with our legal and tax record-keeping obligations under Nigerian law.
  • To improve the reliability, safety, and usability of our Platform.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data because it is necessary to perform our contract with you (fulfilling an Order you placed), because the law requires us to (identity verification, tax record-keeping), because you have given your consent (optional phone verification, WhatsApp notifications), or because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the Platform safe and fraud-free, balanced against your rights.

5. Who We Share Your Information With

  • The Rider assigned to your Order sees the pickup/drop-off address, your contact phone number, and item description needed to complete that specific Order — nothing more, and only for the duration of that Order.
  • Paystack processes Wallet top-up payments and Rider payouts on our behalf.
  • Supabase hosts our database and handles secure account authentication.
  • Brevo delivers our transactional emails (order updates, receipts, account notifications).
  • Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform delivers optional phone-verification codes and, where you opt in, order nudges over WhatsApp.
  • Law enforcement or regulators only where we are legally required to disclose information, or to protect the safety of our users.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not share it with advertisers.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember light preferences such as your chosen colour theme. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent you from staying signed in. We do not currently use cookies for third-party advertising.

7. Data Retention

We keep your account and Order data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we anonymize your personal identifiers (name, phone number) immediately, but we retain anonymized Order and transaction records for the period required by Nigerian tax, accounting, and audit regulations, after which they may be securely archived or deleted.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all traffic to and from the Platform, hashed password storage, and database-level access controls (row-level security) that restrict who can see which records. No system is completely immune to risk, but we continuously review and improve our safeguards.

9. Your Rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, and subject to its exceptions, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Request deletion (anonymization) of your account, subject to the conditions in our Terms of Service.
  • Object to or request restriction of certain processing, such as optional WhatsApp notifications.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe your rights have been violated.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13 below.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered an account, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

11. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers (such as Paystack, Supabase, Brevo, and Meta) may process or store data on servers located outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we rely on those providers’ own security and compliance safeguards, and we take reasonable steps to ensure your data continues to receive an appropriate level of protection.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective Date” above when we do, and where a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users by email before it takes effect.
